Every year in early December, Lyon, France welcomes the most dreamlike moment of the year – the Light Festival. This grand event that combines history, creativity, and art turns the city into a magical theater interwoven with light and shadow.
The 2024 Light Festival has held from December 5th to 8th, showcasing a total of 32 works, including 25 classic works from the history of the festival, providing audiences with an excellent experience of revisiting and innovating.We choose 12 groups of works for everyone to enjoy this time.
“Mother”
The exterior walls of Saint Jean Cathedral are revitalized by the decoration of lighting and abstract art.The work showcases the power and beauty of nature through color contrast and rhythmic changes. he elements of wind and water seem to flow on the building, making people feel as if they are in the embrace of nature, immersed in the music that combines reality and virtuality.
“ Snowball love ”
‘I Love Lyon’ is a work full of childlike innocence and nostalgia, placing the statue of Louis XIV on the Place de Bellecour in a huge snowball.This classic installation has been loved by tourists since its debut in 2006.This year’s return will undoubtedly once again evoke warm memories in people’s hearts, adding a touch of romantic color to the Light Festival.
“Son of Light”
This work tells a touching story by the banks of the Sa ô ne River through the interplay of light and shadow: how an eternal glowing filament leads a child to discover a whole new world.The black and white pencil style projection combined with blues music creates a profound and warm artistic atmosphere, which immerses people in it.
“Act 4”
This work can be considered a classic, created by French artist Patrice Warriner. He is famous for his chrome stone craftsmanship, and this work presents the charming beauty of the Jacobin Fountain with rich and colorful lighting and delicate details. Accompanied by music, the audience can quietly appreciate every detail of the fountain and feel the magic of color.
“Anooki’s Return”
The two beloved Inuit Anooki are back! This time, they chose nature as the background to contrast with past urban installations.Anooki’s mischievousness, curiosity, and vitality have injected a joyful atmosphere into Jintou Park, attracting both adults and children to share their longing and love for nature.
“Boum de Lumières”
The core of the Light Festival celebration is fully displayed here.Brandon Park has carefully crafted interactive experiences suitable for families and young people to participate in: light shampoo dance, light karaoke, night light masks, projection video painting and other creative activities, bringing endless joy to every participant.
