Lights up the way home for the Spring Festival in Yushan Village, Shunxi Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province
On the evening of January 24th, in Yushan Village, Shunxi Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, many villagers gathered in the small square of the village, waiting for nightfall. Today is the day when all the new streetlights in the village have been installed, and everyone is waiting for the moment when the mountain road will be officially lit up.
As night gradually falls, when the distant sunset completely sinks into the horizon, bright lights gradually brighten up, outlining a thrilling journey home. It’s lit up! That’s really great! “The crowd erupted into applause and cheers. Excited villager Aunt Li made a video call to her daughter who was studying outside on site: “Baby, look how bright our road is now! We won’t have to work in the dark to pick you up from now on
Yushan Village is located in a remote area, surrounded by mountains. The population in the village is sparse, with only about 100 permanent residents, mostly elderly. Only young people who go out to work during festivals and holidays return home to make it more lively. A batch of street lamps have been installed in the village before, but due to their long usage time, many of them have become very dim, and some simply do not light up. Villagers can only rely on weak lights to travel at night, causing a lot of inconvenience to their lives.
During a routine power safety inspection, members of the Red Boat Communist Party Member Service Team of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power (Pingyang) discovered this situation and provided feedback. In December 2024, under the promotion of the Red Boat Communist Party Member Service Team of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power (Pingyang), the “Assisting Dual Carbon and Zero Carbon Lighting Rural Roads” project was launched in Yushan Village, planning to use 37 photovoltaic smart street lights to illuminate this long road back home. This batch of street lamps all use photovoltaic power generation, utilizing sunlight during the day to produce and store electricity for nighttime lighting, without generating any carbon emissions throughout the process, truly achieving green, energy-saving, and environmental protection.
In order to continuously support the green development of rural areas, in the future, the Red Boat Communist Party Member Service Team of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power (Pingyang) will continue to upgrade the “Zero Carbon Illuminate the Road to Common Prosperity” project. Not only will the project be implemented in more rural areas, but it will also carry out green and energy-saving renovations on rural roads, public canteens, folk residences, etc., further enhancing the “green” content of rural areas and using green electricity to illuminate the road to common prosperity in rural areas.
